we run this town!

We are so lucky to live in paradise.  We have skiing...maybe not a lot of snow, but hey, we can still ski.  Plus we have endless activities that can keep us busy all summer long.  Everyone knows that people come to Park City for the winter, but STAY for the summer.  We are a town of athletes and a town full of competitive people.  The beautiful thing is that if you want a challenge, there is something for everyone.  The number of running races is awesome...you can spend the entire summer racing and never leave Park City.    As spring starts to show signs that it is coming, the competitor in all of us knows it is time to start choosing our challenge, lacing up our shoes and hitting the open road.

Here are a few ideas that may motivate you to start getting ready....

The Hotel Half

The Hotel Half returns to Hotel Park City on April 25th, 2015. The run starts at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon, allowing for plenty of sleep in time and finishes conveniently as happy hour, or "halfy hour" as we are known to call it, begins.
The half marathon course is a beautiful 2 lap tour of the iconic areas of Park City and is open to all ability levels. In addition, we offer the "Half Ass Detour" which enables runners interested in heading back to the hotel bar and spa an opportunity to do so after the 1.5 mile mark. Nice!
All "Halfers" receive world class accommodations at Hotel Park City and access to all amenities during their stay. More info about the property can be found here: www.hotelparkcity.com

Running With Ed

The 6th annual Running with Ed (RWE) relay is May 16th, 2015. This 38-mile, 10 leg race traverses spectacular Park City, and gets you home in time to have a playdate or a date night. The course offers everything from trail to pavement, challenging climbs to fast downhills, easy legs for beginners and tough ones for experts. Winding past Olympic venues, iconic landmarks, City Park, neighborhood schools, and historic Main Street, this is Park City’s best!

New Park Miles...Our #1 choice for the whole family

Every Monday night in June, they gather at Newpark Amphitheatre for a 1 Mile...ish fun run along the path overlooking the beautiful Swaner Nature Preserve.  There will be a time clock and chip timing is available...but, this is seriously just for fun ...so walk, jog, run, waddle or race your way towards the turnaround and then head back for fun at the plaza.  This is a great introduction to the fun of racing for the little ones.

Mountain Trail Series

Besides advocating for non-motorized trails and the healthy lifestyle they promote,  Mountain Trails Foundation puts on five wonderful annual events.  The Jupiter Steeplechase, Park City Half Marathon & 5K, Mid Mountain Marathon, Tour des Suds Mountain Bike Race, and a Nordic ski race called The Round Valley Roundup.  The events all showcase our wonderful trail system and they are a tremendous funding source for the organization.

Northface Endurance Challenge

The Northface Challenge is a two day event that has a challenge for everyone from Ultra Runners to a kids race.  This year the challenge will happen on September 26th and 27th.

Park City Pink 1/2 Marathon

The Pink Series Half Marathon is Utah's first, largest, and best ladies only half marathon! You don't want to miss the excitement of Pink! So grab your mom, your sisters, your girlfriends, and your training partners for a weekend of your favorite things! Park City is the perfect location for a fall half marathon and weekend get-away:  gorgeous course, charming downtown, Tanger Outlets just across the street from the finish line, fantastic restaurants, fitness, and fun.  This year's race is on October 10, 2015.

Whatever your challenge may be this Summer, We hope you enjoy the the beautiful scenery, the open road AND remember to drink a beer (rootbeer or fully loaded) or two along the way!!
