#locallovePC

I think it would be fair to say that once Sundance kicks into gear, chaos ensues. Although this is my first time experiencing the festival, it didn’t take long to pick up on the love/hate relationship most locals have with the event. While I’m not sure if I can really call myself a local yet (although I did get some nasty frostbite scars on my cheeks last month, which has to count for something), I have definitely adopted the same hot and cold attitude. The crazy influx of people is great for the economy, but it definitely makes life a little less convenient…I mean, the roads are absolutely insane. I don’t even think there are any rules. But I’ll stop myself there. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the annoyances of Sundance and forget about the beauty behind the chaos, the incredible celebration of creativity, art, and innovation. While Sundance attracts talented artists from all over the world, we wanted to celebrate a little differently. We decided to take a more grassroots approach, embrace our #locallovepc mindset, and highlight some of the Utah-based artists whose creativity and visions inspire us year round.

If you’ve joined us for our morning yoga classes (led by the local yogis we know and love) or braved the crowds to scope out some new product, you’ve probably noticed some seriously rad art pieces on display. These paintings and prints belong to Ryan Akerley - a SLC based landscape painter whose work expertly captures the raw, organic beauty of Mother Nature. His fresh, abstract style presents a dramatic version of this incredible place we call home. Ryan’s experience and passion for nature comes through exquisitely in his captivating work that has added a little beauty to our shop. We are stoked to show off his stuff, so definitely make it a point to stop by and check out Ryan’s pieces if you haven’t yet.

In addition to our yoga classes and Ryan’s artwork, we also had the pleasure of hosting the guys from Soul Poles on Saturday night. In case you haven’t heard of them, I’ll shed a little light on the awesome company that is Soul Poles. Founded and designed by former U.S. Ski Team racers, the eco-friendly ski and hiking poles are handcrafted here in Park City. Each pole clearly demonstrates their intense passion for the environment and the sport. Now that I have recently converted to skiing (it happened yesterday), I will definitely be investing in my own pair.  Check them out here for some more info - https://www.soulpoles.com/handmade

Cheers,

Caitlin
