March Madness is an exciting time of year....The excitement begins the first time you open your email to discover it is time to make predictions. The tough decision of predicting with your head or your heart. Once your bracket is complete you have weeks of games and entertainment. This years tournament has been filled with exciting moments and huge upsets. Tonight the Men's NCAA Championship game is finally here!! As you prepare to watch the big game we have a few fun facts....
10. The odds of filling out a perfect bracket is 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775 (yup that is quintillion)!!
9. The record for most overtimes in an NCAA tournament game is 4 and it has happened twice. Once in 1956 and once in 1961.
8. A #16 seed has never beaten a #1 seed in the history of the NCAA tournament.
7. 3 people have won as a player and as a coach...Joe B. Hall, Bob Knight, and Dean Smith.
6. UCONN is the only school that has ever had their men and women win in the same year and they have done it TWICE....2004 and 2014. This year UCONN and Notre Dame are playing for the Women's NCAA Championship on April 7th so this record will stand another year!!
5. Villanova is the lowest seed to ever win the tournament. They won as a #8 seed. Wisconsin and Duke are both #1 seeds.
4. Kentucky WOULD have been the 8th team to have a perfect season if Wisconsin had not beat them in the semifinals. A team has not won with a perfect season since 1974.
3. The NCAA tournament was first held in 1939 and there was only 8 teams. The tournament today starts with 64 teams.
2. Only one time have all four teams in the final four been #1 seeds. This year there was three of four teams...Michigan State was a #7 seed.
1. 35 different teams have won the NCAA Championship Title. Wisconsin won once in 1941 and Duke has won four times...1991, 1992, 2001, 2010.
